Basic vs Premium tune-up

Most riders benefit from a tune-up once a season or every 500 to 1,000 miles. We offer two levels so you can match the service to how you actually use your ebike.

  • Basic: brake adjustment, shift indexing, bolt torque check, tire pressure, chain lube, quick wheel true
  • Basic: battery charge and health snapshot, display/firmware version check
  • Basic: visual inspection of frame, fork, wheels, and cables
  • Premium: all basic items plus hydraulic brake bleed check and adjustment
  • Premium: derailleur hanger alignment, chain wear measurement
  • Premium: motor diagnostic code pull and torque sensor verification
  • Premium: full wheel true on both wheels and headset service
  • Premium: written 27-point inspection report with photos of any issues found

Why ebikes need more frequent service

An ebike sees two to three times the mileage of a regular bike because riders actually use them for commuting and errands. Drivetrain components wear faster, brake pads burn through faster, and bolts loosen faster under motor torque.

A tune-up every 500 to 1,000 miles keeps your ebike dialed in, catches problems while they're cheap to fix, and extends the life of the expensive components. Cheaper than replacing a cassette.

How often should I get a tune-up?

For an ebike you ride regularly, once a season or every 500 to 1,000 miles is a reasonable cadence. For a commuter ebike putting on 100+ miles a week, consider a premium tune every six months.

What's the difference between basic and premium?

Basic handles the adjustments that drift out of tune with normal use: brakes, shifting, bolts, pressure, chain. Premium adds the deeper work: hydraulic bleed, wheel truing, motor diagnostic pull, and a written report.

Do you do pre-purchase inspections?

Yes. If you're buying a used ebike, we can do a full inspection including battery health and motor diagnostics. You get a clear picture of what you're actually buying before you hand over the money.

What if you find something that needs more than a tune-up?

We document it, quote it separately, and let you decide. A tune-up is a tune-up. Major repairs like a brake bleed, motor work, or drivetrain replacement get their own quote so you know exactly what's included.

Can you do a tune-up at my home?

For the basic tune, sometimes yes, depending on the ebike and the space available. Premium tunes are almost always done in the shop where we have proper stands, alignment fixtures, and diagnostic equipment.
