Some brands (notably Bosch) restrict firmware updates to authorized dealers. Others (like many Bafang systems) allow self-service but require a specific USB programming cable and software. We'll tell you which applies to your ebike and do it correctly either way.
Could be either. A blank display can be a bad display, a loose cable, a failed display-side connector, a blown fuse, or a controller issue. We test the display power and CAN-bus signals to isolate which component actually failed.
Sometimes. Some brands allow upgrading from a basic display to a larger color display if the protocol matches. We'll check compatibility with your motor and controller before recommending a swap.
We program within the legal limits for Class 1, 2, and 3 ebikes. We do not derestrict ebikes or remove speed limiters in a way that changes the bike's legal classification. Keeping your ebike road-legal protects your insurance and warranty.
This is why we use OEM procedures. In the rare case of an interrupted update, we can typically recover the system by re-flashing through the diagnostic port. We've yet to brick an ebike, and we're careful because we don't want to be the first.
