What's Included

Basic vs Premium tune-up

Most riders benefit from a tune-up once a season or every 500 to 1,000 miles. We offer two levels so you can match the service to how you actually ride. Area shops typically charge $99 or more for a basic tune and $199 or more for a full overhaul; you get our competitive quote up front and approve it before any work begins.

  • Basic: brake adjustment, shift indexing, bolt torque check, tire pressure, chain lube, quick wheel true
  • Basic: visual inspection of frame, fork, wheels, and cables
  • Premium: all basic items plus hydraulic brake bleed check and adjustment
  • Premium: derailleur hanger alignment, chain wear measurement
  • Premium: bottom bracket and hub bearing assessment
  • Premium: full wheel true on both wheels and headset service
  • Premium: written 27-point inspection report with photos of any issues found

Why regular tune-ups pay for themselves

An bike sees two to three times the mileage of a regular bike because riders actually use them for commuting and errands. Drivetrain components wear faster, brake pads burn through faster, and bolts loosen faster under motor torque.

A tune-up every 500 to 1,000 miles keeps your bike dialed in, catches problems while they're cheap to fix, and extends the life of the expensive components. Cheaper than replacing a cassette.

Common Questions

Tune-Ups questions, answered.

How often should I get a tune-up?

For a bike you ride regularly, once a season or every 500 to 1,000 miles is a reasonable cadence. Daily commuters should consider a premium tune every six months.

What's the difference between basic and premium?

Basic handles the adjustments that drift out of tune with normal use: brakes, shifting, bolts, pressure, chain. Premium adds the deeper work: hydraulic brake check, wheel truing, bearing assessment, and a written report.

Do you do pre-purchase inspections?

Yes. If you're buying a used bike, we can do a full inspection covering frame, wheels, drivetrain, brakes, and bearings. You get a clear picture of what you're actually buying before you hand over the money.

What if you find something that needs more than a tune-up?

We document it, quote it separately, and let you decide. A tune-up is a tune-up. Major repairs like a brake bleed, wheel build, or drivetrain replacement get their own quote so you know exactly what's included.

Can you do a tune-up at my home?

For the basic tune, sometimes yes, depending on the bike and the space available. Premium tunes are almost always done in the shop where we have proper stands, alignment fixtures, and measuring tools.
