What's Included

What's included in brake service

From a quick pad swap to a ground-up rebuild, we service the brakes on every bike we pick up. Good brakes are the cheapest insurance on two wheels.

  • Brake pad replacement with OEM-matched compounds
  • Full hydraulic brake bleed (Shimano, SRAM, Tektro, Magura, Hayes)
  • Rotor truing and replacement
  • Caliper alignment and piston service
  • Lever service including bite point adjustment
  • Full brake system rebuild with new hose and fittings when needed
  • Brake cable and housing replacement for mechanical disc and rim systems

Why brakes drift out of tune

Florida heat, salt air, and sandy trails are hard on brakes. Pads glaze, rotors pick up rub, cables stretch, and hydraulic systems slowly lose their bite point.

We service brakes to the torque, bleed, and alignment specs your system actually calls for, whether that's a modern hydraulic disc or a classic rim brake. Every bike leaves with both brakes tested under load.

Common Questions

Brake Service questions, answered.

How do I know if my brake pads need replacing?

The pad material should be at least 1mm thick above the backing plate. If you hear metallic grinding, feel pulsing at the lever, or the lever pulls closer to the grip than it used to, it's time. We'll inspect and give you an honest answer.

What is a hydraulic bleed and why does it matter?

A bleed removes air and contaminated fluid from the brake line, restoring a firm, responsive lever. Over time, fluid absorbs moisture (especially DOT-based systems), which drops the boiling point and creates a mushy lever. Hydraulic brakes need periodic bleeds to stay sharp.

My brakes squeal. Can you fix that?

Usually yes. Squeal comes from glazed pads, contaminated rotors, misalignment, or vibration. We'll clean, re-bed, or replace as needed and check the caliper alignment.

Do you handle warranty work on brakes?

Yes, for most major brands. If your brakes are under warranty, bring us the documentation and we'll coordinate with the manufacturer.

Can you convert my brakes to a different system?

In some cases, yes. We can upgrade from mechanical to hydraulic, swap to four-piston calipers, or install larger rotors for more stopping power. We'll tell you what's compatible with your frame and fork.
