What's Included

What's included in drivetrain service

A clean, correctly indexed drivetrain is the difference between a bike you love riding and one that fights you. We replace parts at the right time so you're not buying a full drivetrain when a chain would have done.

  • Chain wear measurement and replacement with OEM-spec chain
  • Cassette swap and compatibility check for your drivetrain speed
  • Derailleur adjustment, alignment, and hanger straightening
  • Shifter repair, cable replacement, and housing swap
  • Chainring inspection and replacement
  • Freehub service and pawl lubrication
  • Complete drivetrain degrease and rebuild option

Chain wear compounds

A stretched chain doesn't just shift poorly. It drags over cassette teeth at the wrong angle, wearing the cogs into a shark-fin profile. Replace the chain in time and the cassette lasts for three or four chains.

Wait too long and the cassette is toast too. We check every chain we touch with a proper wear indicator and tell you exactly where you are on the curve, so you can plan the work instead of reacting to it.

Common Questions

Drivetrain Service questions, answered.

When should I replace my bike chain?

Most bike chains need replacing between 1,000 and 2,500 miles depending on motor output, rider style, and conditions. We measure wear with a proper gauge. When it hits 0.5% stretch on a standard chain (or 0.75% on some bike-rated chains), it's time.

Are bike drivetrains different from regular bike drivetrains?

Yes. Bike-specific chains and cassettes are built with hardened steel and reinforced link plates to handle motor torque. Using a regular chain on a high-torque bike can lead to premature wear or snapped links.

My shifting is off. Is it the derailleur or the cable?

Both are common. Cable stretch is the most frequent cause, but a bent derailleur hanger (from a fall or the bike tipping over) is often mistaken for a derailleur issue. We'll diagnose first, adjust second.

Can you change my gear ratio?

Often, yes. We can swap cassettes and chainrings within compatibility limits. Useful if you find yourself spinning out at the top of assist level 4, or grinding up hills.

Do you service internal gear hubs?

Yes. We service Shimano Nexus, Alfine, Rohloff, and Enviolo internal gear hubs including cable adjustment, oil changes, and warranty coordination.
